The Annual Review Process
-
Performance indicators and targets will be agreed in discussion between the Vice-Chancellor or Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the Dean or Director annually, based on the criteria specified by the Vice-Chancellor for securing the 3% component of budget funding.
-
Heads of academic and administrative units will prepare an annual submission to the Dean of Director based on the agreed performance indicators and targets, and other relevant planning information.
-
The Dean or Director will prepare a single report for submission to the Vice-chancellor, containing Faculty, School, Centre of Division performance and planning information, statistical (time series) data and the budget bid. That report will also form the basis of the Dean or Director's Planning Performance Review (PPR).
-
Following the determination of the budget each year the Dean or Director may revise the report before filing it as a source information for the next five yearly major review.
The Major (Five Yearly) Reviews
-
The major reviews will be carried out by small and broadly thematic-based Review Teams consisting of external experts and peers.
-
The chairs of the review teams will form a Steering Committee, chaired by on of their members, appointed by the Vice-Chancellor.
-
Deans and Directors will prepare submissions to the respective review teams based, in part, on the material used in the annual reviews.
-
The collected reports from the Review Teams will be presented to Council by the Steering Committee
-
Members of the teams to conduct the five yearly reviews will be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor. They will be recognised as international or national experts in the discipline areas to be reviewed. If appropriate, the Vice-Chancellor may appoint a member of the Executive or a Dean or Director from another area to the review team. The review teams must comprise both women and men. The Vice-Chancellor will appoint an external persons as the Chairs of the teams and will provide for a review secratariat.
